Prepping for the Big Summer Move: How to Protect Your Feet When Moving

Posted on August 11, 2015 by Matt Behnke

Couple having fun while moving homeSummer is full of swimming, outdoor fun, and, of course, moving. No matter what, summer moves are inevitable, and this means that you might just have one in your future. When it comes to moving in the summer, you need to make sure you take proper care of yourself.

You should always get plenty of water, take rests to avoid overheating, and learn how to protect your feet when moving. We are going to take a look at just how you can keep your feet safe while moving, avoiding injury or exhausted feet.

4 Perfect Ways to Protect Your Feet When Moving

Just what can you do when you need to protect your feet when moving? Here are some tips you need to consider and remember to keep your feet and body healthy.

  1. Wear the Right Shoes for What You’re Moving

Moving in the summer means that you can overheat easily. Everyone always focuses on staying cool, which is a great idea. However, this means that sometimes people might wear cooler shoes such as sandals.

These shoes aren’t necessarily a good idea to wear when moving. Always make sure you wear the correct types including shoes that completely cover your feet.

  1. Wear Shoes with Decent Arch and Ankle Supports

Wearing the right shoes for moving doesn’t just include making sure that they cover your feet, but that the shoes have decent arch and ankle supports. In order to figure out what type of arch support you need, you can visit a podiatrist. This will not only help when you are moving, but can also help throughout your workdays, going out, and more.

  1. Rest Your Feet Consistently to Keep Pain Down

If you start to feel pain in your feet or if they are getting exhausted, you should take a break and rest them. Make sure to rest your feet consistently.

You can even take off your shoes to let your feet breathe, and also soak them in a foot soak tub with Epsom salts. This can help bring down and inflammation and relieve pain.

Dry your feet, and get back to work, but remember to keep doing this throughout the day to protect your feet when moving.

  1. Take Proper Action if You Injure Your Feet

It is possible that you might injure your feet when moving. If you start to have sudden intense pain, you should stop and look at your feet. You need to make sure you don’t have any injuries as it can be possible not to realize you’ve injured yourself.

If you’ve noticed that you do have an injury, then it is time to take a rest, and get the proper medical attention you need. In addition, don’t push through the pain. Stop moving, and take proper action.

Keep Your Feet Safe with Orthotic Shoes

One of the best ways to make sure you protect your feet when moving is to buy and wear orthotic work boots. They can help support and protect your feet well. In addition, orthotic shoes are great for making sure your feet stay healthy no matter what it is you are doing.
