Product reviews: Ossur Light AFO Brace - Carbon Fiber - AFO Light

it takes some getting used to, but it is well designed. It is for my wife, who thinks it would be less obvious if it were in white. She has to buy shoes of differnet sizes to make it work, as it pushes the foot forward. It is probably the most comfortable of the braces she has used. Size wise, it had to be ground to the size of her foot. The velcro is so grippy that it requires two of us to remove it, so a thinner piece could be used. The cushion for the calf band does not fit the calf band exactly right, so it had to be trimmed a bit, leavign an exposed edge. Functionally, it is pretty good. I actually put it on myself and it allowed me a very natural gait, plus it did not raise the height of my shoe. In general a very well designed piece, but not perfect.

I am having to wrap a ace bandage around my lower leg because the vertical part rubs the back of my leg. I am hopeing that with time I will not need the ace bandage. Thusfar I have not hit my toes on the floor which was causing me to fall previously.

Has great support and definitely changes how a person walks. Should be more instruction of how to set it up correctly. When wearing the strap around the calf not to have it too tight as well as the 1/2" shoe size difference. Different colors would be good, white, tan and blue maybe.

Ossur AFO Light Good AFO but calf muscle cup is troublesome. Recommend using a metal finger splint to strengthen it. With modification, unit is excellent.

Ossur AFO Light Could not use as it caused me undue pain and discomfort. Reason being toe next to big toe is deformed down in a claw appearance.

Good overall I am developing drop foot, and my calves are also weakening. I have more rigid AFOs that give me great propulsion forward when I walk, but I can't use them on a bicycle, and they are overkill for wearing around the house. I took a chance on these, and they really help on the bike. They are also useful around the house or office or on short walks, and are lightweight and easier to hide. I need a fair amount of padding over the hard foot plate, and I've had to get bigger shoes to accommodate the vertical part of the brace. Every brace has some drawbacks, but I'm glad I got these.

Ossur AFO Light Excellent product. This is my second AFO Light. I got tired of switching the brace with each pair of shoes. My first brace did form two small cracks on the foot plate but don't seem to be spreading or affect the support. This is so much better than my first brace that was completely rigid.

Ossur AFO Light Modified a little after assembly, added some pads. Overall, just great. It helped tremendously, I can walk normally again, no more drop foot, even faster. Now that I've had it (just a week) don't know how I got along without it. I thought I was taking a chance buying it off the internet, but turns out it was a fabulous choice for me. Very happy with results.

I am very happy with this brace for my foot drop,it is light weight and is easier to wear with jeans and slacks compared to the brace I was wearing.7

I have had this same type brace for my left foot for several years. When my right foot began to drop, I did not hesitate to buy a brace for it. They are excellent products - and very reason in cost.

Everything went well, and this brace is extremely helpful. I am very satisfied.

Good...

I loved this brace for the first year. After that, the Velcro wore out. I am now using paper clips to secure it and that just looks silly. Having MS makes me look silly enough already. I wish there was a way to replace the Velcro. I just can’t afford to buy a new one every year no matter how much I love it.

Very happy with results wearing the brace. Assembly instructions could be clearer. Hoping there is a way to get replacement padding & Velcro, as I could see those wearing out over time

I ordered a second, spare AFO brace, because it is so helpful and crucial to my ability to walk normally, I could NOT afford to be without one.

These AFOs are the best. I’ve had various custom made AFOs that have been really uncomfortable and damaged my feet. These are lightweight but provide strong support.

As a CMT patient, these are a good light option to keep me stable as a walk. They complete resolve my foot drop and help with my ankle instability. Just like with an AFO, I’ve had issues adjusting to them. They have some sore spots where they rub my skin which I expected. Although they are expensive, they are $700 cheaper than what the dr. will charge. Worth the hassle of assembling them myself!

The brace has done wonders for my leg and my walking. I feel much safer too. The girl who took my order was very nice and knowledgeable. Your service is fast as well.
