Great for hiking or if you need a lot of coverage in a sandal.
Advantages: Deep insole for my orthotic. Ordered my regular size 7 but in wide and my orthotic insole fit in nicely. Didn't need to go up a half size in drew sandals.

These are not for walking let alone trail hiking.I first thought I wasn't in shape for walking long distances. My knees and hip hurt as well afterwards.I tried my orthotics inside them but have the same pain walking after 20 minutes. After 40 min. walk the pain radiates to my knees. I took them off and walked barefoot. I don't know what causes these well made, sturdy sandals to be so uncomfortable. My orthopeadist suggested that the steel shank was causing me my pain. I've switched back to running shoes. So sad.I'm a size 12 Medium, 6 feet tall, slim build, and my ankles are weak. Hence my need for quality footwear.
Advantages: None. But they look nice and are sturdy with the steel foot shank, and quality construction.
Disadvantages: Painful to walk in!

The Fisherman's sandals are perfect! I have a prosthesis (artificial foot) and these sandals stay on perfectly but still give me an open shoe look for summer! It is really hard to find flat shoes to stay on a prosthesis, but these are great!
Advantages: closed toe, adjustable straps, does not slip off.
Disadvantages: none

I love these shoes/sandals.. My only problem is because I wear them a lot. the Velcro is coming off the back. I will buy this again because they are so comfortable.
Advantages: true to size
Disadvantages: Velcro coming off
