FlopStop for Drop Foot

The FlopStop was intended to be a personal solution for what was always an uncomfortable, unavoidable topic thanks to bulky AFO bracing. After developing, testing and refining The FlopStop for personal use over the course of a few very busy years full of travel, it became evident that this was an AFO product millions of drop foot sufferers could benefit from.

Discrete Foot Drop Brace

Foot drop, sometimes called drop foot, is a general term for difficulty lifting the front part of the foot. The FlopStop is the simplest, most discrete drop foot prevention device on the market. The FlopStop has been designed and patented to offer protection against trips and falls, as well as providing upwards lift for the foot to help navigate stairs and aid in driving. Our simple hook attachments make adjusting for various footwear extremely simple. To shorten the bungee, push the hook back, cut the knot off and burn the end so it doesn’t unravel, then make a tight knot at desired length. To avoid any pressure and to work your FlopStop in, it’s best to remove when it’s not needed, so you can get used to it.

How to Use the FlopStop Drop Foot Brace

To avoid any pressure on your heel and to work your FlopStop in, it’s best to remove it when it’s not needed, so you can get used to it. Also, if the hooks rub the top of your foot at all, simply turn the hook up and away from your foot.

When you try on the FlopStop, make sure it’s fairly tight in order to get the lift you need. Try moving the hooks up or down the laces to adjust tension or you could try crisscrossing.

If it's too short, try stretching the bungee cord with your foot, the more you stretch it, the longer it gets. Simply hold onto both hook ends, while seated and push your foot on the padding.

If it’s too long, simply tie a knot or 2 in the bungee cord until you reach desired length.

You would be surprised what a little adjustment can do.

Not only did his invention of The FlopStop put all those nagging questions to bed, but it solved a long list of other problems found with traditional AFO braces. Gone were the hot sweaty lower legs and ankles, as well as the general discomfort experienced from wearing a hard plastic brace for periods longer than an hour. Walking comfortably in crowds, wearing shorts instead of long pants in the summer, and sandals without socks were now all finally back on the table.

The original FlopStop prototype stood up to the rigors of uneven boardwalk strolls along Venice Beach, California, rolling paths down to the shores of Okanagan Lake, BC, crowded Vancouver city sidewalks and countless airports. It passed the test with no distressing falls and more importantly, not one question of "What happened to your foot?" ever being asked.
